How to Believe a Lying Mental Health Counselor

The Beautiful Therapist who I trusted had easy and simple opportunities to get rid of me cleanly before he suddenly and traumatically and sloppily terminated me in December 2024.

Here’s one very clear example of a perfect opportunity he could’ve taken from July 2024:

The first email is one I sent him after a session where I left feeling frustrated. Notice how I didn’t blame him of course, and then how he tells me I’m safe to show up in whatever state of mind I’m in. And I completely believed him, but of course what he said turned out to be TOTALLY UNTRUE.

It turned out that my dear calm on the outside but not calm on the inside counselor was actually very DISAPPOINTED IN ME for possibly the whole time I was his client and was pretending not to be, probably for the money or to finish his supervision hour requirements. It’s painful that he acted like he cared, only to toss me out like utter garbage a few months later.

I’m sure he’s doing just fine and his clients all love having him for their therapist, just like I did. And they probably believe the nice things he tells them, same as I used to.

This is a lesson on how to be a stupid client and how to believe your therapist even when they’re lying to you.
